Summary

Add a .html file to your portfolio titled Anomaly Detection.

Purpose & Requirements

Demonstrate your knowledge of fundamental anomaly detection techniques by describing the causes of anomalies, statistical approaches, proximity-based detection, density-based detection, and clustering-based techniques. Your writing should include:

• An introduction that summarizes what we mean by "anomaly detection," the sources of anomalies, and issues surrounding anomaly detection.
• Describe some statistical approaches to anomaly detection and the strengths and weaknesses of this approach.
• Describe a proximity-based approach to anomaly detection and the strengths and weaknesses of this approach.
• Describe a density-based approach to anomaly detection and the strengths and weaknesses of this approach.
• Describe a clustering-based approach to anomaly detection and the strengths and weaknesses of this approach.

This document should be equivalent to three double-spaced, typewritten pages in length. Be brief, but thorough -- the reader should have a good understanding about traditional anomaly detection strategies, and believe that you have a strong understanding of them.

Grading Criteria (250 points)

Your portfolio must contain a table of contents in index.html and have one link called Anomaly Detection; and one page called anomaly_detection.html that fulfills the requirements described above.
