Summary

Add a .html file to your portfolio titled Data and Data Quality.

Purpose & Requirements

Demonstrate your knowledge of data mining by starting with the most important, yet oft-overlooked, topic: data. Write a summary of what you learned from your readings, using proper inline citations that refer to footnotes at the bottom of the page. Your writing should include:

• An introduction that summarizes the aspects of data you describe below.
• Descriptions of dataset types and attribute types, and why these types are important to think about (what are the "side effects" of different dataset types, such as temporal correlation?)
• An exposition about data quality. What are common problems? How are they handled? Specifically mention the case of human-generated data, citing BD.
• An exposition about exploring data. Why is it important? What are the common summary statistics? Show some screenshots of a data mining tool providing these stats.
• An exposition about visualizing data. Where does dataviz fit in the data mining process? Show an example of a visualization you created with Processing.

This document should be equivalent to four double-spaced, typewritten pages in length. Be brief, but thorough -- the reader should have a good understanding about your position on the importance of different aspects of data, and believe that you have a strong understanding of the topics listed above.

Grading Criteria (200 points)

Your portfolio must contain a table of contents in index.html and have one link called Data & Data Quality; and one page called data.html that fulfills the requirements described above.
